A new project will use parents' views about a range of issues to help tackle problems among young people.
Adults will be asked to give their views about a number of issues, including drugs and alcohol abuse, family relationships, communicating with children, education and anti-social behaviour.
The scheme, based on the Knaresborough Road Estate in Harrogate, will collect as many views from parents as possible to learn how they believe their community can be improved.
Joanne James, of the Craven, Harrogate and Rural District Primary Care Trust, is one of the project's co-ordinators. She said: "Ultimately, we hope that by establishing this dialogue and learning from what the parents tell us, we can help to reduce anti-social behaviour and offending, especially that linked to drug and alcohol abuse."
The project is supported by schools and community centres in the area. If the pilot scheme is a success it is expected to be used across other parts of North Yorkshire.
