Durham County
The three Durham teams visited East Yorkshire in the Region One Inter-Counties Championship and came away with only a draw to show for their labours when the men's' B team finished all square. The men's A team were beaten by ten frames, whilst the Ladies team went down by twenty frames.
None of the usually reliable players in the men's A team found their true form so none of them managed more than two frames from the four played. However the B team had Dave Harrop of Consett in full cry getting all his four points, whilst Carl Little and Gary Spooner both of Newton Aycliffe recorded three wins from their four outings. The team were very grateful to Eddie Mackay, John Mavin, Nick Veuger, Ian Killip and Steven Thompson who turned out after there were late withdrawals on the morning of the match.
The Ladies knew they faced a mammoth task as they were facing the reigning Region One champions and were hampered by the absence of two of their players. This gave the home side eight frames start but the Durham girls fought hard with Helen Littlewood of Langley Moor starring with four wins, whilst Sue Seal of Sherburn won three of her four outings. Durham's next match in the region One League is on Sunday, 8 June at Daisy Hill, Sacriston.
