Willington Boys: Willington Boys Under-16s maintained their two-point lead at the top of the Russell Foster Junior League first division with a 7-1 success over Washington Envelopes. The destination of the league title will be settled this Saturday when Willington and rivals South Shields Wanderers play their final games, although both teams are certain of promotion.
The Willington goals came from Martin Hopps (2), David Jackson (2), MoM Michael Abson., Daniel Lee and Lien Howe. "This is a remarkable achievement when you consider that at one time we were twelve points adrift," said Willington manager Robert Lee, "in the first half of the season we had a lot of injuries and sometimes had to play with just 11 men."
Willington Under-10s completed their season in the short-sided league by beating Fulwell Fitness 2-0 and Durham County Jets 2-0. Jordan Roberts and Willem Hunter scored in the first game, and Roberts go both goals in the second.
Earlier, the Willington Under-10s did well to finish as runners-up in an open seven-a-side competition at Blackpool.
Shildon Juniors
Shildon Juniors won the Russell Foster Under-10 Sunday League Cup Final with a 2-1 win at Sunderland Barnes Macs in a game that was a credit to the league.
Both sides played open attacking football although the game was competitive, good refereeing allowed the game to flow, resulting in no free kicks being awarded in the whole match.
Shildon, having the benefit of the wind in the first half, created most of the early chances with Joe Joyce attempting to get behind the Barnes defence from the keepers kicks. Chances were being created by both sides with Shildon steadily gaining the upper-hand as both midfields tried to control the game.
The opening goal of the game came after ten minutes, from a Shildon corner the ball was hacked clear by the Barnes defence and as it dropped Calum Hoggart hit the ball on the half volley and rifled it in from 20 yards to give Shildon a deserved lead. In the second half, Shildon increased their lead within a minute of the restart, good work down the right by Daniel Shoulder created an opportunity for Thomas Hallimond to hit a shot from just inside the box, which took a deflection off a defender leaving the Barnes goalkeeper wrong footed.
The Barnes right back made a valiant effort to clear the ball of the line only for it to hit the post and bounce back into the net. Shildon could have increased their lead from another corner when Stephen Kipling came in at the back post and hit a left foot shot, which came back off the post.
With less than ten minutes left Barnes Macs made a double substitution, this gave them renewed vigour. The fresh legs started to stretch the Shildon defence, but with Ben Trotter tackling strongly, every attack broke down around the Shildon area. With less than five minutes left Barnes deservedly pulled a goal back, this gave them fresh hope and they started to throw everything at the Shildon goal. In the last minute the Barnes right-winger fired into the top right hand corner of the Shildon goal causing the Barnes supporters and players to jump in celebration of an equaliser only for Mathew Brown the Shildon goalkeeper to make the save of the match by throwing himself across his goal to fingertip the ball over the bar. At the final whistle the Shildon players started their celebrations.

The match remained deadlocked until substitutes Jonathan Moss and Ben Prosser came on and the team benefited from fresh legs on the pitch.
