Tow Law bring the curtain down on their campaign with an emphatic 7-0 win over Shildon. Derek Dowson (2), Eric Johnstone (2), Terry Bosanko, John Bates and Ken James the scorers.
West Auckland beat Crook Town 4-0 in the Northern League Challenge Cup final.
Steve Balmer, the Middleton St George bowler, takes five wickets in five balls against Aldbrough St John in the Darlington and District League. The first six Aldbrough batsmen were dismissed without a run being scored, while the remaining five batsmen could only muster seven runs. Balmer finished with seven wickets for four runs while Les Green, the former Darlington FC right back, claims three wickets for three runs.
Mainsforth bowler, Jack Lane, takes seven wickets for 11 runs including a hat-trick as his side dismiss Langley Park for 40 runs in the John Saunders Cup. Mainsforth lose nine wickets before reaching their target but remain unbeaten in the season.

In the Mid Durham Senior League Peter Carr of Oakenshaw, Peter Watson of Lands and Graham Carter of Fishburn all take six wickets. In the Durham County League Rodney Gill of Evenwood and Harry Allen of Etherley both claim five wickets while John Glassford of Peterlee returns six wickets for 66 runs.

Despite Ian Simon hitting 30 runs Witton-le-Wear are dismissed for 66 runs by neighbours Etherley in the Whitbread National Village Competition. David Wilson scores 41 not out as Etherley win by nine wickets.
Qasim Omar with 59 runs puts Annfield Plain on the road to a 20-run win over Burnopfield. Ken Walters finishes the job off with six wickets for 26 runs.
Janet Soulsby from Prudhoe is beaten by Berkshire housewife Linda Bayman in the semi-finals of the English Women's Golf championship.
