VANDALS targeted five homes in Stanley during the bank holiday weekend. On Saturday, a golf ball was thrown through a bedroom window at a house in Earl Street at about 7.50pm. Earlier the same day, at 3.45pm, three people were seen using iron bars, to smash windows in Charlotte Street. Three more attacks took place on Monday, with windows being broken and paint splashed on brickwork at a house in Burns Close. A kitchen window was smashed in Frosterley Gardens and a brick was thrown through another kitchen window in Percy Avenue, at about 4.25am. Anyone with information about the incidents is asked to contact Stanley police on (01207) 232144.
CLUB APPEAL: The Buddies Club at Easington Community School, which is helping 40 year seven children to settle in and make friends, is appealing for donations of money, prizes and resources. Donors should contact the school on (0191) 5274133.

Market stall: The Durham branch of Amnesty International will have a stall in the city's Market Place on Saturday, where they will be handing out information about Refugee Week, which runs from June 16 to June 22.
ADVICE SESSIONS: Durham Citizens Advice Bureau is holding drop-in sessions today at Ushaw Moor Community House, 10am to 11.30am, Quarrington Hill Community Centre, from noon to 1pm, and at Cassop Community Centre, from 1.15pm to 2.15pm.
SALSA CLASS: A salsa dancing class takes place tonight, from 7.30pm to 11pm, in The Studio restaurant, in the Gala Theatre complex in Durham. Tickets cost £4 and are available from the box office on 0191-332 4041.
HOMES PLAN: Newton Moor Construction is seeking planning permission from Derwentside District Council to build 25 houses at Woodside Farm, Woodside Terrace, Langley Park.

SURGERY BOOST: Two charity nights at Kelloe Working Men's Club, on April 8 and May 6, raised £674 for medical equipment at Kelloe Surgery. Members of the village recently presented a cheque for the sum to surgery staff.
