COMPANIES across the North-East have been given an insight into one of the world's biggest export markets - in China.
Simon Rodwell, China business advisor for Trade Partners UK (TPUK) and the China-Britain Business Council (CBBC), took part in a whistle-stop tour of the region visiting 15 companies during two days.
The visits, organised by TPUK and the CBBC's North-East office, gave a chance for both experienced exporters and those who had never before considered China to find out about the many opportunities available.
Mr Rodwell said: "China has a vibrant economy and there are many millions of people who are potential consumers who are interested in, and can pay for, UK products.
"The country also has a very ambitious rate of growth in its infrastructure.
"All sorts of products and services could potentially be exported to China, particularly on the wealthy eastern side and, increasingly in the west as the Chinese government's Go West campaign is working hard to develop the interior areas."
