THE Wear Valley Carers Initiative has organised a series of events to promote Carers' Week 2003, starting with an information day for carers in Bishop Auckland Town Hall, from 10am until 3pm, on Monday June 9.
Events arranged with the Durham Dales Primary Care Trust and County Durham and Darlington Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, will take place throughout the district to promote opportunities for carers in employment and training.
Events include a two-mile walk around the grounds of Auckland Castle with the week culminating in a race night for carers and their families from both Wear Valley and Teesdale to be held at the Jersey Farm hotel, Barnard Castle.
Anne Beeton, chairwoman of Durham Dales Primary Care Trust, said: "Carers' week aims to provide a wide and varied, as well as interesting, programme that will be both enjoyable and beneficial to the carers that do such a magnificent job in the community."
