A SCHEME to find work for residents of a Darlington estate has proved a big success.
More than 50 people have landed jobs since Firthmoor Into Work, run by Morrison Enterprise Trust, was launched at the start of this month.
The project, based in Brignall Moor Crescent, provides job seekers with practical help and advice on finding employment, particularly after long periods out of work.
Employment link worker Caroline Evans said: "It's just like a job shop. People sign up to the project and we can do CVs for them, help them access the Internet and jobs boards and sometimes even provide them with training. We are finding that the scheme is giving people the confidence to get work."
Mother-of-three Liz Bennett, 32, became the 50th person to find work when she became Firthmoor and Lascelles's new part-time Better Play Worker, running a children's activity club at the community centre.
"I'm loving it. I was out of work for two years and I didn't have a lot of confidence. Caroline was very helpful and very supportive," she said.
