BUDDING DJs Alan Bennison and John Walsh are to introduce the region to their sound after winning a radio competition.
The students at Gateshead College were selected to broadcast their house music set live on Galaxy 105-106.
It follows a competition run by the college and the radio station, where music technology students were asked to create a dance music mix to fit the style of Galaxy DJ Kareem.
Pete Craggs, the station's head of music and production, judged the entries.
He said: "Alan and John developed each tune into the other very well and I loved the way their mix moved through a Brazilian house edge and then into a sort of electro sound about half way through - very 2003/4."
Gateshead College is the only one in the region to offer full-time courses in the art of being a DJ.
They include writing and recording music, and using computers, sequencers, recording techniques, sound systems and DJ equipment.
There is a strong focus on dance music, as well as the business side of setting up a record label. For further details, contact 0191-4900 300.
