SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY are poised to make a bid for Sunderland striker Michael Reddy.
Wednesday manager Chris Turner confirmed last night that he is set to move for Reddy, who spent three months on loan at Hillsborough this season.
Turner said: "Michael is high on my list. There will be some development regarding him in the coming weeks."
Reddy has a year left on his contract at Sunderland but is expected to leave this summer as Mick McCarthy slashes the squad.
The 23-year-old, who has started just two first-team games for Sunderland, is also wanted by Hull City.
Reddy could be joined at Wednesday by Hartlepool United duo Graeme Lee and Paul Smith.
Wolverhampton Wanderers last night became the latest club to be linked with Kevin Phillips.
Wolves manager Dave Jones will be armed with a substantial transfer war chest this summer as he tries to strengthen the play-off winners' squad.
And he would be able to afford Phillips's fee and wage demands if the striker were prepared to move to Molineux.
Wearside legend Gary Rowell has backed Phillips's decision to quit Sunderland after six years.
Rowell said: "Kevin will be 30 by the time the new season starts and of course he wants to carry on playing in the Premiership.
"His goals were a major factor in getting the club into the Premiership and he followed that up by scoring 30 times in his first top-flight season.
"He could have left after that but he decided to stay and the fans appreciated that.
"Mick McCarthy needs to start with a blank sheet of paper and he will want to bring in his own players, so if Kevin moves on it will help the club from a financial point of view."
Sunderland midfielder Claudio Reyna confirmed his return to fitness when he was named on the bench for the United States' 2-0 win over Wales in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Reyna, who was an unused substitute, has not played since damaging his cruciate knee ligament seven months ago.
Sunderland winger John Oster, who played for Wales against America, is interesting Cardiff City.
