A BROADWAY show that launched the career of Julie Andrews is coming to the North-East.
Sandy Wilson's musical The Boyfriend stars Liliane Montevecchi, Oliver Tobias and Roy Barraclough and runs from June 10 at Darlington Civic theatre.
The original production of the show opened 50 years ago in London's West End, in April 1953, before hitting Broadway the following year with 19-year-old Julie Andrews as one of its stars.
The production at the civic is a mixture of spoof and songs, with a tribute to musicals of the 1920s featuring roaring Twenties music and costumes.
The show runs from June 10 to 14.
