A TAXI driver who assaulted another cabbie has been warned by councillors.
George Jenkinson was fined £100 and ordered to pay £100 costs and £15 compensation by magistrates in Darlington after being found guilty of assault and criminal damage.
Jenkinson, of Minors Crescent, Darlington, who denied the charge, faced losing his licence for the attack on fellow cabbie Paul Hilton.
But Darlington Borough Council's licensing committee decided yesterday to issue a warning letter.
He said after the decision: "It has been dealt with by the courts and I can't see why I have to be punished again."
Any taxi driver who commits an offence has to notify the council, which can revoke or suspend a licence.
