TWO women appeared in court yesterday accused of shouting racial abuse at an Asian police officer.
The women targeted PC Parvez Khan when he was with another officer in an unmarked police car in Stockton, said Ray Priest, prosecuting.
Michelle Govan, 24, and Beverley Russell, 18, were charged with racially aggravated intimidation and harassment.
They claimed that they stepped in to ensure that the police did not assault two youths who they detained on suspicion of drug offences, Teesside Crown Court was told.
Russell, of Grove Street, Stockton, pleaded guilty to the October 11 offence, and was fined £200.
Govan, of Norton Road, Stockton, denied the charge but pleaded guilty to harassment and causing alarm or distress. She was given a conditional discharge for 12 months.
