A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a road crash in which a pony-and-trap driver died.
Father-of-one Wayne Walker, 33, was on a regular trip along a stretch of road in Washington, Tyne and Wear, when a car was involved in a collision with the trap.
Mr Walker, a self-employed businessman from Springwell, Tyne and Wear, died at the scene and the horse was put down.
David James Graham, of no fixed address, was charged yesterday with causing death by dangerous driving, driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence, driving with no insurance, failing to stop after an accident, and failing to report an accident.
A spokesman for Northumbria Police said he was remanded in custody by Houghton-le-Spring magistrates to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on June 4.
