YORK Crown Court has been awarded a Charter Mark in recognition of its commitment to serving the community, one of eight across Yorkshire to win the accolade.
Courts Minister Yvette Cooper said: "I am delighted that so many Yorkshire courts have achieved this public service accolade."
MISSING MAN: Police are concerned about the safety 62-year-old Christopher Hanby, who has been missing from his home in Parliament Street, Norton, since Saturday. He is not married but has family in the area.
BOOT SALE: A car boot sale and balloon race, in aid of Kidney Research, is to be held in the field opposite Tennants Auctioneers, in Leyburn, on Sunday, June 22. The sale opens for traders at 8am and for the public at 9am.
FREE ENTRY: The Royal Pump Room Museum, Harrogate, will mark the 50th anniversary of the Queen's coronation on Monday by offering free entry. The museum is holding an exhibition, called The New Elizabethans, which focuses on life in the 1950s.
DOG SHOW: Kiplin Hall, near Scorton, is the venue for a dog show with a difference on Sunday, from 2pm to 4pm. There are eight categories, including waggiest tail and fastest sausage eater. Admission is £2 adults, £1 children and 20p per dog per entry. For more information call (01748) 818178.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: York's Youth Offending services team is looking for volunteers for its Appropriate Adult Service, which will be launched tomorrow.
