PATIENTS living with long-term health conditions are being invited to attend a six-week course which starts tomorrow.
The course, called The Expert Patient Programme, will give patients the chance to learn more about managing their illnesses and getting on with their lives.
It is being provided by the North Tees Primary Care Trust as part of its patient involvement programme.
Carolyn Siddle, the public involvement manager for the trust, said: "The programme aims to give patients with long-term health conditions such as asthma, arthritis or diabetes, the confidence to communicate with healthcare staff.
"It will also give them the confidence to work with them to make treatment decisions, leading to an improved lifestyle, in spite of their illness."
The programme runs for two-and-a-half hours a week for six weeks, and starts tomorrow, from 10am to noon, at the Castlegate Quay, Stockton.
People wanting to join are asked to call (01642) 352297.
