BUDDING gardeners are being urged to help transform overgrown land into a tranquil haven for people and wildlife.
New members are invited to join Lingfield Wildlife Gardening Club, which will be based at Lingfield Farm Countryside Centre, Middlesbrough, where the work will take place.
The aim is to establish an organic vegetable garden, wildlife areas to attract pest-eating creatures, a traditional wild flower cottage garden, a pond, a small sensory garden area and natural garden structures.
There are also plans to have a try at composting and traditional crafts such as hedgerow-laying, dry stone walling and wood carving.
The first in the series of gardening club events will be held from 1pm to 3pm today at Lingfield Farm Countryside Centre, where there will be a chance to look at garden design, insect houses, plants that attract insects and much more.
Anyone interested in being involved should contact (01642) 577325.
