A scheme to take museum artefacts into unusual venues has arrived in Thirsk.
The World of James Herriot centre, in the town's Kirkgate, has taken charge of the Flying Showcase for the next six weeks.
Staff have filled it with memorabilia and taken it to Thirsk's Skeldale Veterinary Centre, where people can look at veterinary tools from the past while they wait for their pets to be treated.
Six museums across the Hambleton and Richmondshire areas have signed up for the Flying Showcase scheme, which allows artefacts to go on display in community facilities.
So far it has been on display at Bedale Leisure Centre and at the Tesco store at Catterick Garrison.
At the surgery the showcase is the responsibility of vet Jim Wight, whose father, Alf, was the author James Herriot.
Among the items customers will be able to examine are an enema pump, a centuries-old blood letting stick, drenching horns and a collection of glass phials.
The showcase will be on display at the surgery, on Thirsk Industrial Park, until July 4.
