VISITORS to the Test match will be welcomed with banners made by a sewing group and adults with learning difficulties.
The eye-catching panels have been created by adults with learning difficulties from Empower in Chester-le-Street and a sewing group in Nettlesworth and will be hung from lamp-posts leading up to the Riverside stadium in Chester-le-Street.
The project was led by Chester-le-Street District Council's arts officer Julie Lewcock and operations manager Anne Besford.
A total of 26 banners were made for the event and they represent each country taking part in the Test match series, depicting animals, plants and other images associated with each nation.
The banners were created at weekly sessions at the Empower building on Waldridge Lane with the help of Flame Arts.
Rhonda Fenwick of the arts group said: "They look fantastic. They've done a marvellous job."
