KING of the jungle Phil "Tuffers" Tufnell was in the North-East yesterday to offer cricket fans the best seats in the house for the first Test match to be staged in the region.
The former cricket star, who won the last series of ITV's reality TV show, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, visited Newcastle to promote England's cricket clash with Zimbabwe, next week.
The event will see Durham County Cricket Club's Riverside venue, at Chester-le-Street, become the first new Test ground in England for 101 years.
Tuffers visited the headquarters of energy provider npower, which is sponsoring the Test, to launch its suite, the npower lounge. The firm will provide a "living room environment" at the Riverside for lucky competition winners and the media to enjoy unrivalled viewing of the game.
The 36-year-old, who ate a live beetles, red ants and worms as part of the TV contest, took time out to sign autographs for fans in Newcastle city centre.
Tickets for the Test match, which takes place from Thursday to Monday, June 9, are available from the Riverside ground on 0191-387 5151, or via the website, www.CricketTickets.net
