A BURGLAR sunning himself in Ibiza yesterday when he should have been sentenced by a court will have a rude welcome home arranged by the judge.
Christopher Thompson's girlfriend contacted Teesside Crown Court on Wednesday to say he was in the Spanish resort.
Judge Michael Taylor issued a bench warrant for the arrest on his return of Thompson, of Southfield Road, Middlesbrough.
Thompson, 24, had earlier pleaded guilty at Teesside Magistrates' Court to burgling a house in Woodlands Road, Middlesbrough, with others and stealing property worth more than £400.
The judge said: "Probably he is having some fun before beginning his prison sentence. Perhaps he can be arrested at the airport when he comes back. If he can be picked up there it will be easier."
