MORE than 30 classic cars will converge on east Cleveland later this month for a trip down memory lane.
The cars, dating from the 1930s to the 1960s, will meet at the 17th Century Sir William Turner's Almshouses at Kirk-leatham, near Redcar.
The vehicles will drive in convoy through Redcar before arriving at the almshouses at 2pm on Sunday, June 15, where they will be on show in the courtyard of the alms-houses opposite Kirkleatham Old Hall Museum.
The display is expected to include a 1931 Rolls Royce Landaulette, a 1960s Alvin, and classic motorcycles.
The car owners are members of the Teesside Yesteryear Motor Club. Press officer Janice Ward said: "We are thrilled to be able to meet at this historic location."
The event has been organised by the Rotary Club of Guisborough and Great Ayton in aid of the almshouses.
The club is committed to raising more than £500 towards the cost of furnishing the visitors' accommodation at the almshouses.
"Wilton Lodge has been fitted out as a twin-bed hotel room for people who come to visit their relatives in the almshouses," said Peter Sotheran, chairman of the trustees.
"ICI generously donated landfill tax to pay for the conversion and the Rotary Club's kind gesture will put the finishing touches to the job."
South Bank Brass Band will play in the courtyard throughout the afternoon. The chapel will also be open and refreshments will be available.
