A STALWART former councillor will this week receive an honorary post from the authority which she served until last month.
Ada Naisbitt stood down from Easington District Council prior to the recent local election, after 36 years' consecutive service as a councillor.
She represented the Horden North ward and held several posts within the council, including chairing its development services committee.
A special meeting of the council has been called on Friday with the sole item on the agenda being to bestow the title of honorary alderman on the former councillor.
The honour is awarded to any former member who, in the opinion of the authority, has rendered it eminent service.
She also qualified because she had given more than 25 years' consecutive service to the authority.
