Foster's Tyneside Senior League Under-18s: Consett and Whickham were involved in a closely fought encounter which the Steelmen won by a margin of only ten runs.

Batting first Consett ended with 101 for one on board which included 43 by Chilton and 37 not out from Ben Travis.

Replying Whickham were well served by Adam Ainley but when he departed for 31 their hopes faded and when stumps were drawn they had made just 91 for seven.

Dave Richardson, with an undefeated 27, steered Crookhall to a five wickets success at Swalwell, who made just 43 for six and at Greenside, Lintz had nine wickets to spare.

Their target was only 61 and after an early wicket fell David Dolan hit four boundaries in 28 not out and Stephen Smith had two sixes and two fours carrying his bat for 27 as the pair put together a match winning unbroken partnership for the second wicket.

Batting first Greenside were all out for 60 which included 23 not out by Glen Scott with one boundary and two sixes. Richard Moody had the excellent figures of three for 14 from 4.1 overs and Stephen Mooney claimed five wickets for a mere 14 runs when he sent down five overs in the Lintz attack.

Burnopfield had all their wickets in tact when they overtook the Chopwell total of 56 for eight. Stephen Allen took three for 12, Marcus Peart two for eight and Lawrence Davey two for six before Peart led the Burnopfield reply ending unbeaten with 36 out of a total of 59 for none.

Lanchester managed only 65 for six which included 25 from Kevin Dixon who found the boundary line on four occasions but the modest score was still more than enough at Ryton who were dismissed for 31.

Bob Hay Under-18 Cup

Mainsforth just had the edge on Ushaw Moor at the end of a high scoring tie. Patterson (37) and Sweeney (28) enabled Mainsforth to reach 128 for seven even though Wilson claimed three wickets for 46 runs in the Ushaw Moor attack.

When they batted Ushaw Moor ended on 125 for sevens, thanks mainly to the efforts of Gill (40), Dawson (26) and Rafferty, who ended undefeated on 25. Thompson bowled well for Mainsforth and his three wickets were taken at a cost of just 22 runs.

Evenwood had three wickets left when they overtook the Brandon score of 95 for three. James Alderson was again in splendid form and he scored 41 of his team's total while Chris Peareth added 29. Myers had a good night with the ball for Brandon and his four wickets were taken at the economical cost of just 11 runs.

When Brandon batted first and compiled 95 for the loss of three wickets they were pleased that Myers (39no) and Parnaby (38) were in such good form.

Bishop Auckland restricted Haughton to 96 for six and went on to win losing just a couple of wickets.

Seaton Carew had ten wickets remaining when they overtook the Wolviston total of 75 for six. Spence finished unbeaten on 34 and Evans was still there on 29 as the pair put together an unbroken first wicket partnership of 76.
