A ROYAL line-up and local jazz band will front a village carnival to be held later this month.
Willington Monarchs Jazz Band will lead the Willington Carnival parade through Colliery Road and High Street to the town green, on Saturday June 21, from 10.30am.
The band will be followed by this year's carnival queen, 14-year-old Alana Devonport.
She will be accompanied by attendant Ashlea Copping-Rodgers, 11; princess Kayleigh Wingfield, seven; and prince Alex Brown, also seven.
Jazz bands will also join the procession, and a fancy dress competition will be held on the town green.
The carnival is followed by a fun-day on Sunday, June 22, from 1pm to 4pm, which includes a bonny baby competition, races, and pub competitions.
