Royals faced Blyth in the final of the President's Cup and it was always going to be a close match with honours even in previous games.
Blyth started strongly and scored after 20 minutes before Royals came back into the game with Fiona Cantwell taking the ball past a Blyth defender, but with the keeper to beat just could not find a final shot.
Just after half-time Blyth scored again to make it 2-0 but Royals lifted their heads and competed for every ball with Alex Saunders always looking calm and controlled in defence, passing the ball through to midfield.
A pass was fed through to Rebecca Pattinson who fired a shot into the Blyth net to make it 2-1. Royals passed the ball around well and Rebecca Toppin and Helen Morrison continued to work tirelessly up and down the pitch.
Jade White had a great run through midfield and struck the ball with her left foot scoring to make it 2-2.
After ten minutes of extra time both teams had chances but it ended up going to penalties. Steph Hartley was in great form in goal for Royals as was the Blyth keeper.
Rebecca Pattinson was the first Royals player to score into the sudden death stages, however, Blyth scored next to make it even.
After 24 penalties it was Blyth who scored the vital goal to win the match but the game was great to watch and credit to both sides for some excellent football.
A special mention for Royals player Vicky Wray who played in every match but could not attend the final.
Rebecca Toppin finished the season well for Royals by winning the trophy for girl of the match. This was in addition to her previous ten awards throughout a successful season.
