ONE of the region's oldest sporting trophies has found a new home.
This year's Wilf Mannion Memorial Ellis Cup went to Normanby and Eston Social Club, which beat South Bank St Peter's 4-0 in the 106th final on Saturday.
The goalscorers were Graham Baverstock and Jon Symon, who both scored twice.
Winners and losers were presented with medals by Redcar MP Vera Baird.
Normanby and Eston team manager Darren Coulton said: "It was quite humbling to go back to the social club with the trophy. A lot of the older members of the club were so chuffed and kept touching it. It is the first thing we have won in my time as manager, going back 13 years."
The trophy, which is insured for £40,000 and is kept in the safe at South Bank police station, was founded in 1889. Former Ellis Cup players include Matt Busby, who played for Portrack Shamrocks in 1946, Don Revie, Brian Clough and Alan Peacock, as well as Wilf Mannion.
The trophy was renamed to include Boro footballer Mannion, from South Bank.
