YOUNGSTERS in Hartlepool explored the magic of aboriginal culture yesterday.
Children from West View Primary School met aboriginal artist Francis Firebrace at a workshop, where Mr Firebrace combined stories and traditional dancing with philosophy.
Mr Firebrace comes from the Yorta Yorta people of Australia, and told the youngsters about aboriginal life and culture and the aboriginal doctrine of living in peace with people.
The workshop was organised by the Arts Council of England, and took place on the Wingfield Castle paddle steamer, at the Museum of Hartlepool.
Claire Munroe, from Hartlepool Borough Council's arts and museums service, said: "We were delighted to welcome Francis Firebrace to Hartlepool.
"His visit gave the youngsters a wonderful chance to explore the rich history and culture of the aboriginal people, and it was an absolutely spellbinding session."
Children from Grange Primary School, Hartlepool, will take part in a workshop with Mr Firebrace on Monday.
