MARTIN SCOTT and Colin Todd are the latest hopefuls to announce their intention to take control at Hartlepool United.
Mike Newell was axed by chairman Ken Hodcroft on Friday and, after Tony Mowbray admitted he wants the job, he was joined by two more.
Scott has enjoyed success at Victoria Park as youth team coach and hopes to put his inside knowledge to good use.
"I'm very ambitious and would love the chance,'' he confessed. "I have been at the club for three years and know all of the players from the youths, through the reserves to the first team.
"As well as that they know me well and I have a knowledge of how the club works and how the chairman runs his business.''
Ex-Sunderland defender Scott was in contention to replace Chris Turner last season and helped out as Newell's No 2 before Kevin Sheedy's arrival.
Former Midddlesbrough boss Todd admitted: "If there was a job available in the lower divisions and the chairman was ambitious and the club wanted to go somewhere then I would consider that.''
* Season ticket sales at Victoria Park have broken through the 1,000 barrier. A number of fans bought their tickets on Saturday, in the aftermath of the departure of Newell.
* A special video to commemorate Pool's promotion season is now on sale. Going Up, which has been produced by Tyne Tees Television for the club, is available from the club shop, priced £15.99.
