A WELCOME break is on offer to carers at an activity day which will include relaxation tips and aromatherapy.
Wear Valley has an estimated 11,000 carers. Vital support and information will be on offer to them at Bishop Auckland Town Hall on Monday from 10am to 3pm.
The information and activity day, organised by the Wear Valley Carers Initiative, is designed to help anyone in the area who is caring for an elderly, seriously ill or disabled relative or friend.
Benefits advice, health checks and demonstrations are all part of the day.
Geoff Kelly of Wear Valley Carers' Initiative said: "We hope as many carers in the area as possible are able to join us. The event gives them the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about support services available at a convenient place for them."
Among the services represented will be Staywarm, the unique fixed cost electricity and gas scheme for anyone over 60 and gives access to the the Warm Front scheme, which provides grants of up to £2,500 for insulation and heating measures.
