Drummers from a primary school in Darlington will take part in its first international event later this month.
Pure Drumming, a group of 15 children from Skerne Park Primary School, has been invited to perform at the fete de ville in the French town of Amiens, during the weekend of June 21 and 22.
The school was approached to play at the fair as part of the town twinning programme.
Pure Drumming has played at events in the North-East, but it will be the first time they have performed abroad.
Skerne Park headteacher Di Teasdale said: "The group meets every Tuesday and we have a professional musician who comes to work with the children.
"He will be going with them to France along with three teachers.
"Pure Drumming has performed at Darlington Lantern parade and in Newcastle in front of thousands, but this will be something a bit different.
"The children are really looking forward to it."
The school has received funding for the trip from the twin town initiative, Sage music project centre in Newcastle and school funding.
Parents have also been asked to make a small contribution.
