BOSSES visited a North-East prison yesterday as part of national scheme to turn criminals into workers.
Leading local employers took a tour of Stockton's Holme House Prison to meet prisoners and talk about the benefits of setting up job opportunities with ex-offenders.
The visit comes after the Government revealed that one in three male workers under 40 has a criminal record and 90 per cent of inmates face unemployment on leaving prison.
Their tour was part of an 18-month programme in prisons across the country, called Employment Inside and Out.
The programme has run skills workshops in 80 prisons, involving more than 1,000 prisoners.
