The Mind shop, in Goodramgate, is raffling one of two jackets donated to them. Anyone who spends £5 at the shop will be given a ticket for the raffle, which will be drawn on Saturday evening.

DRIVE DARE: Fundraisers are needed to take part in a driving challenge which will mean negotiating steep inclines and hill descents - blindfolded. The Royal National Institute for the Blind is searching for daredevils to take part in the adventure. BAR SCHEME: A scheme for an alfresco area at the Slug and Lettuce bar, Montpellier Parade, Harrogate, has been given the go-ahead. Borough council planners have imposed a condition banning food and drink in the designated area outside the hours of 9am to 6pm.

CAFE CHANGE: Councillors have given final clearance for a scheme by Leeds Federated Housing Association to convert The Rainbow Cafe, Kirkgate, Ripon, into homes and an Internet cafe.

PARKING AREA: An all-weather disabled parking area can be built at the Great Yorkshire Showground, in Harrogate, borough councillors have decided.
