WORK by an amateur painter from Durham has been selected from 10,000 entries to appear in a London show.
Irene Clarkson, 84, from Belmont, has had a painting accepted for The Daily Mail - Not the Turner Prize exhibition, which opens at The Mall Galleries, near Trafalgar Square, on Saturday.
Mrs Clarkson's oil painting, of Westminster Abbey and the Unknown Soldiers' grave, was one of 400 pieces of artwork chosen from 10,000 submissions for the exhibition.
The artist has previously had a painting selected for a Royal Academy exhibition.
She will attend a preview of the exhibition on Friday.
