US TRIP: Rebecca Nicholson, 14, from Billy Row, Crook, has been awarded a place in the A1 Entertainments England team which will take part in a dance festival in Hollywood and Disneyland, next year. FUNDING HELP: St Thomas' Church, in Stanley, Crook, has received a grant of £16,000 from the Millennium Commission. The money will go towards heating and specialist lighting. It follows a grant of £47,000 from the commission to refurbish and install kitchen, toilet and disabled facilities. The church's spring fair raised £200 which will go towards the improvements.
FAMILY EVENT: Crook Cricket Club is holding a family disco and barbeque on Saturday from 7pm to 11pm. Tickets cost £4 for adults, £2 for children. A family ticket for two adults and two children costs £10. They are available from the club.
TABLE-TOP SALE: A table-top sale takes place in Howden-le-Wear Community Centre on Saturday from 10am to noon. Tables cost £5 and must be booked by tomorrow. For details call (01388) 764419.
