AN angry resident has complained to a police authority about the way she was treated after her window was smashed during the night.
The woman, who asked not to be named, lives in one of four houses in Quaker Lane, Northallerton, which had their windows smashed in the early hours of Sunday, May 4.
She said that despite seeing two youths brandishing a stick no official statement was taken from her by North Yorkshire Police that night.
"I remember waking up to the sound of breaking glass and looked out the window," she said.
"I saw two youths, one wearing white and holding a stick or a pole, and they were stood in front of the Mencap building.
"Two police officers did come to the scene, but despite what I told them they did not take a formal statement and we have heard very little from them since.
"I think their response was very negative," she said.
Police have confirmed that inquiries into the case were still continuing.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police Authority said that each case was individual and it was not always necessary for an official statement to be made.
"We realise that the incident caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage. It is a serious matter and pretty scary for those involved," he said.
