The newly-formed Macmillan Art Group, in Newton Aycliffe, is holding its first display of work in the foyer of the town's leisure centre.
The show will be staged on Tuesday. A percentage of the profits from sales will be donated to St Teresa's Hospice, in Darlington, which is supporting the event. Work by members of the group will also be exhibited at the Great Aycliffe Show, on June 21 and 22, and at the Bishop Auckland Discovery Centre, from July 3 to 19. ATHLETICS MEET: Entry forms are now available for the Darlington Harriers Athletic Club's Pitstop Road Race at Croft Circuit on Wednesday, July 9. The event includes a 10km race, a 2km fun run and a 10km wheelchair race. The event is in support of Childline North-East. CHARITY SALE: Crook Co-Op will hold a car boot sale in aid of the Children's Hospice on Sunday, June 22, from 9am to 4pm. Thirty tables, costing £5 each, are available. Tickets can be bought from the store's kiosk.
SCHOOL SCHEME: High Coniscliffe Primary School, near Darlington, is seeking permission from Darlington Borough Council to erect a storage building in its grounds.
BOARD MEETS: Sedgefield Primary Care Trust will meet in the trust's offices, in Merrington House, Merrington Lane, Spennymoor, on Thursday, June 12, at 2pm. The public will have the opportunity to ask questions and comment. Anyone wanting to attend is asked to contact the trust on 0191-301 3820.
DRAMA DAY: A Greek theatre company will be helping pupils from the village school at Woodland, near Barnard Castle, on Monday. The pupils will stage a short play for their parents in the afternoon.
CHURCH CONCERT: Singers from Northern Opera will star in a concert at Barnard Castle Methodist Church on Saturday, June 14, at 7pm They will sing numbers from musicals including Kismet, Miss Saigon and Oklahoma. Tickets are £5 from John Wise on (01833) 637227.
SCHOOL FETE: Parents have donated tins, bottles and sweets as prizes at the annual fete at Montalbo School, Barnard Castle, on Saturday, June 14 from 2pm to 4pm. The event will have a dad dunking session, fancy dress, races, face painting and other fun. Takings will help the school and its nursery class.
LIVE MUSIC: Graham Russell will perform at The Quaker House, in Mechanic's Yard, Darlington, tonight, at 8.30pm. Admission is free.
