WORK by an amateur painter from Durham has been selected from 10,000 entries to appear in a high-profile exhibition in London.
Irene Clarkson, 84, from Belmont, has had a painting accepted for The Daily Mail - Not the Turner Prize exhibition, which opens at the Mall Galleries, on Saturday.
Mrs Clarkson's oil painting, of Westminster Abbey and the Unknown Soldiers' grave, was one of 400 pieces of artwork whittled down from 10,000 submissions for the exhibition.
She has previously had a painting selected for a Royal Academy exhibition. She will attend a special preview of the event this Friday.
