CATALYST business Synetix has changed its name.
The business, acquired from ICI by Johnson Matthey in November, 2002, has been rebranded as Johnson Matthey Catalysts.
The rebranding was unveiled at the Chemspec exhibition in Manchester, yesterday.
Despite the name change, there is no threat to jobs at the business, which employs 400 at Billingham, and another 400 at sites in Lancashire and Cambridge.
The company, formed in 1998, services the needs of more than 5,000 customers in 85 countries, and has sites in Germany and India.
Larry Pentz, division director for process catalysts and technologies at Johnson Matthey Catalysts, said: "There is no impact on jobs as a result of the name change.
"We continue to see Teesside as a major base for our business and we will continue to invest there in the future."
He said: "The change is further reinforcement of Johnson Matthey's long-term commitment to strengthen its position in catalysts and related technologies, whilst building on its reputation of innovation integrity and quality."
