A man has appeared at crown court in connection with the death of a horse and trap driver in a crash.
Wayne Walker, 33, died and his horse had to be destroyed after a collision with a Honda Accord. It happened as he was trotting his horse along the A182 dual carriageway in Washington, Wearside, in April.
David Graham, 26, of no fixed address, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court yesterday charged with causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop and driving with no insurance.
No plea was taken and he was remanded in custody until a plea and directions hearing on August 20.
