PLANS to extend a popular North-East hotel have been given the go-ahead.
Councillors in Darlington have granted planning permission for work at Hallgarth Golf Country Club and Hotel, on the outskirts of the town.
The hotel, which is a Grade II listed building, is popular across the UK and is a big draw for golf fans.
At a meeting of the planning committee, councillors heard there was a lack of similar developments in the Tees Valley.
Councillors approved plans for a three-storey wing housing 54 bedrooms. Permission was granted subject to conditions.
