TWO Darlington organisations are vying for the use of a flower bed in South Park to mark separate anniversaries this year.
The Trefoil Guild and the Darlington and District Townwomen's Guild both want to create a commemorative display in the carpet bed at the park.
The Trefoil Guild is part of the Guide Association and comprises people who are no longer active within the organisation but want to keep in touch with its work.
This year the guild, which has two branches in Darlington, is celebrating its diamond jubilee.
The guild has already been told it can have jubilee floral displays in Newton Aycliffe and Birtley, Gateshead.
The Darlington and District Townswomen's Guild is celebrating its golden jubilee this year.
There are 11 separate guilds in the Darlington area with 370 members who meet once a month.
Darlington Borough Council will decide which organisation to support at its cabinet meeting next week.
