THE manager of the Enterprise Academy, which is sponsored by Middlesbrough Football Club, has been nominated for an award.
Michael Glenn has been put forward by Business in the Community for the Marks and Spencer Sieff Award, launched last year to mark the charity's 20th anniversary and the retirement of founder member Sir David Seiff.
The award recognises the organisation which has best collaborated with the corporate sector to benefit both society and business.
Mr Glenn's work at the Willie Maddren Educational Centre, and in his former career as a teacher has also contributed to his nomination as North-East representative for the award.
He goes through to the national finals next month.
Mr Glenn said: "I am delighted to have been put forward for this, I see it as a reflection of the proactive stance that the whole of the football club has taken in its work throughout the whole of the community."
The Enterprise Academy was set up to introduce 11 to 19-year-olds to the principles of business and self-employment.
