BUSINESSES around Darlington are being offered a helping hand to prepare for the Northumbria In Bloom competition.
Darlington Borough Council is offering to sell prepared hanging baskets and troughs to businesses in the run up to the judging of the competition.
Council workers can also be paid to maintain the flowers with a £1 donation from any sale going to St Teresa's Hospice, in the town.
Council horticultural supervisor Peter Smith said: "The impact made by the floral displays in Darlington has a positive effect on the local economy by attracting visitors to the town while also improving its appearance.
"The support the council receives from the local businesses and organisations is recognised as a major contributor to the award of Northumbria In Bloom.
"I would be grateful for businesses' continued support which improves premises while also adding to the beauty of the town."
Businesses have until Monday, June 16 to request help from the council with any floral arrangements.
