A COUNCILLOR and his ten-year-old granddaughter led by example by logging on to a new website.
Councillor Dan Myers and his granddaughter, Rebecca Hardy, tried out the revamped Easington District Council site.
Following months of work, www.easington.gov.uk now provides a number of services, including the opportunity to pay council tax online.
Coun Myers has been encouraging residents to log on to the site.
He said: "Rebecca is always on the Internet for school homework, general interest, e-mailing and messaging her friends.
"So if it is easy for ten-year-olds to get online, we would hope the majority of our residents will find the council's new website easy to use."
Among the site's features are lists of council services, councillor profiles and contact numbers, information on the area, and news.
Barry Nicholson, the council's head of information services, said: "This website is provided for the people in the district of Easington and others who want to access information about the area.
"It will be changing constantly to reflect the needs of the community.
"People have a part in determining what it provides and what it contains."
