MORE than 30 classic cars are to converge on an historic setting.
The cars, dating from the Thirties to the Sixties, will meet at the seventeenth-century Sir William Turner's Almshouses at Kirkleatham.
The classic motors will parade through Redcar, before arriving at the almshouses at 2pm on Sunday, June 15.
They will then go on display in the courtyard opposite Kirkleatham Old Hall Museum. The display is expected to include a 1931 Rolls Royce Landaulette, a Sixties Alvin plus scores of classic cars and motor cycles.
The car owners are members of the Teesside Yesteryear Motor Club. The event is organised by the Rotary Club of Guisborough and Great Ayton as a fund-raiser in aid of the almshouses.
The club is committed to raising more than £500 towards the cost of furnishing the visitors accommodation at the almshouses.
Peter Sotheran, chairman of the trustees, said: "Wilton Lodge has been fitted out as a twin-bed hotel room for people who come to visit their relatives in the almshouses."Donations have been received from ICI and the Rotary.
* The Grade I-listed Sir William Turner's Almshouses Chapel will re-open to visitors on Sunday until the end of the summer school holidays. The chapel will be open every Sunday from 2pm to 4pm.
