MILITARY life in North-East training camps leading up to the start of the Great War will be recreated next week.
The Great War Society will transform part of the Beamish Museum, near Stanley, County Durham, into a training camp, showing what life was like in the Army in 1913.
Braver visitors can fill out Attestation forms to take the King's Shilling and learn to drill with the men. There will also be a chance to find out more about camp life such as kit polishing, cooking and skirmish exercises.
The soldiers will give demonstrations and march through the museum's Colliery Village, from 11am on Saturday, June 14 and Sunday, June 15. Each day's activities will draw to a close at 4.30pm, with the playing of the Last Post.
The annual Beamish Sunday School anniversary also takes place on Sunday, June 15, in the Wesleyan Methodist Chapel at 2.30pm.
Youngsters from Red Rose Primary School Jam Club, dressed in period costume, will perform traditional recitals and readings, accompanied by West Pelton Methodist Choir.
