COMMUNITY groups in Ferryhill will be able to keep residents up-to-date thanks to the provision of new information boards.
Ferryhill Town Council and Ferryhill Community Partnership has joined forces to install six boards throughout the town. They were identified as a priority in the Ferryhill Community Appraisal.
Funding has come from the town council and a £4,600 grant from the Community Empowerment Fund, administered by Community and Voluntary Organisations Sedgefield.
The boards, produced locally by Marfab, have been installed near the town hall, at the top of Hallgarth Terrace, Ravensworth Road shops, Mainsforth Community Centre, Dean Bank Literary Institute and outside the Ladder Project on the Lakes Estate.
Town Council executive officer Jamie Corrigan said: "Each notice board will have a section for the council and public bodies, such as the police and other authorities, which will be the same in each.
"At the same time, there are some sections given over to community groups such Dean Bank Literary Institute and Ferryhill Station Residents' Association."
Anyone wanting to place an item on the notice boards is asked to send six copies of the details to the town hall.
