A NEW programme of health talks are under way in sheltered housing across Sedgefield borough.
The Pioneering Care Partnership and Sedgefield Borough Council's Carelink sheltered housing co-ordinators are working in partnership to deliver the programme.
The six-week initiative started at Dean Bank Grange, Ferryhill, last month, covering a variety of health topics.
They include home and personal safety, energy advice, Age Concern services, osteoporosis, healthy eating, gentle exercise and the benefits of complementary therapies.
Feedback was positive, and several of those who took part said they are going to do more exercise.
Programmes are planned for Thurston Grange, West Cornforth, Grayson Grange, Spennymoor, Rosewood Grange, Chilton, Rowan Avenue, Shildon, and Gilpin Court, Newton Aycliffe.
Gill Macnab, events and participation worker for the Pioneering Care Partnership, said: "This new initiative is a great way of bringing people together to raise awareness around health-related topics in a fun and enjoyable way. I am sure the scheme will continue to be successful."
