A GROUP formed to give advice and support to people expecting a baby has celebrated its first anniversary.
The Spennymoor Bumps and Babes group, started last year by local health visitors, also provides support to parents with babies under 12 months.
Parents and expectant parents told health visitors which subjects they wanted to hear more about.
As a result, the group invites speakers and there have been sessions on baby massage, dental health, coping in an emergency, and support with breast feeding.
The group has also run craft sessions for parents.
Bumps and Babes meets every Wednesday, in Spennymoor Health Centre, from 10.30am to noon.
The five health visitors who work in Spennymoor attend the sessions, along with the community midwife and nursery nurse.
A spokeswoman for the group said: "There is a relaxed atmosphere and new members with new ideas are always welcome."
